Counselling, psychotherapy and memory services in Stockport

A warm welcome to Memory Therapy.

My name is Claire Dorrington and I have over 25 years experience of working with individuals, couples and families who are affected by memory loss.

As a Psychotherapist and independent Social Worker I can provide you with both emotional support and practical advice in what can feel like a confusing and stressful journey.

I am one of a small number of specialist professionals within the U.K. to provide psychotherapy services to people with memory loss, Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

I believe passionately that people with memory loss, Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia have the same rights to enjoy their lives as fully, actively and independently as possible for as long as possible!

I have extensive experience in supporting individuals, couples and families with the following:-

  • Exploring your feelings in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental
    environment.
  • Pursuing a diagnosis.
  • Developing coping strategies to help with memory loss.
  • Making adjustments to maintain a full and active life.
  • Making positive changes in your relationships.
  • Improving communication.
  • Resolving family conflicts regarding 'what's best'.
  • Making practical and legal decisions.

I am a registered Social Worker and Associate Lecturer in Social Work within universities across the North of England.

I have completed four and a half years of Advanced Clinical Training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the South Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy.

If you would like to explore how you can move forward to a more positive future as an individual, couple or family living with memory difficulties, Alzheimer's or other types of dementia please contact me for an informal discussion about your needs.

I look forward to hearing from you.
